We wake up Friday morning and decide to rest today. We’ve been on the road for five and a half weeks now and we’ve noticed that periodically, a rest from travel, people and sightseeing is necessary. We spend the day by the pool and the evening in our room. My left heal still feels inflamed on days when we walk a lot, and yesterday, there was a lot of walking. This day of rest is welcomed!
Saturday, we head out for a tour. We meet our tour guide, the knowledgeable and humorous Hector, at 10 a.m., along with 18 other people who we will spend the next few hours with, outside the Vatican. We see the Vatican museums, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. It’s all beautiful and amazing and awe inspiring. We take a lot of pictures before heading to lunch and then our hotel pool for the afternoon.
Our trip is winding down. We are getting tired.
Sunday morning after breakfast, we decide to roam around Rome one last time as tomorrow, we take a day trip and we leave for home the following day. We walk the streets, take a few more pictures, and have lunch of pasta and meatballs before retreating back to our hotel pool.
Shawn and I talk about how we are tired and admittedly, ready to go home. Our time away has been nothing short of amazing but we miss our family and we miss our bed. We’ve become saturated with the beauty, and we realize, the timing is perfect. Europe, you’ve shown us so many beauties and we know we have one more day of adventure and discovery ahead of us.
I’m sooo happy for you both. Such an amazing experience! When will you be home from your “bit of heaven” ?
Love, grace and continued safe journey. Mama Faith ❤️
