Barcelona Day 3, Rest and Relaxation

Good morning, Barcelona!  We’ve been on the go since July 21st, when we left our home and headed to Vegas, where we would catch our plane the next morning.  Today, it’s time to rest.

We drink our morning coffee and head to the spa in our hotel for massages.  It’s a beautiful, warm and sunny day.  My therapist’s name is Carol and she truly has a healing touch.  She gives me a wonderful facial following my massage.  Tipping isn’t the norm here in Europe, we are learning, but I do want to tip our therapists and learn that we cannot add the tip to our card.  I ask Carol if American dollars would be acceptable.  She delightfully replies, “Yes!  I collect them!”  I must have had a confused look on my face because she added, “I’m saving up to visit my aunt in Boston.”  Love that!  We’ve had beautiful time together and after my treatment, I head out to the pool to join Shawn for more rest in the sun.

We decide to stay in for the evening.  A storm blows in and we sit on our balcony to watch the thunder and lightning.  The wind comes up suddenly and dirt blows across the pathways below us.  We’ve ordered in pizza at a spot that we noticed was a favorite among the locals, and Shawn brings up a bottle of wine from the bar.  We end our evening inside, as the rain is coming down, playing games and sipping our wine.  Tomorrow is our last full day here in Barcelona.  Our restful day has us relaxed and peaceful and we settle in for a good night’s sleep.
